I merged in and pretended to be Hongkee. I think it worked to a certain extent... besides my "zao yum" cantonese. My dad was sympathetic - "that's because you never spoke much cantonese, I don't speak cantonese well either. "
and I'm like ..... yaaar... you're probably ten times better than me . But, besides a few kinks like not understanding what they said, and saying things the wrong way, I think I did pretty well.
Hong Kong is sooo humid. I have a Chinese room mate who's majoring in English. it'll be an interesting 3 weeks - reckon I'll get along with my coursemates? after all, there's only 3 engineers, everyone else is in the humanities or social sciences..... |
